- an expert on running
- a training guru
- a nutritionist extraordinaire
So as not to lose all credibility, it should be noted that I have been running since I was in 7th grade, of course with some disruptions (ahem--having children) and injuries, and in recent years have hit a point where I feel consistent and strong. Despite being a runner for the better portion of my life, I have come to the realization that I still had and have much to learn.
I ran my first marathon this past October, and on those long, solitary training runs there's not much else to do but zone out and THINK. Which, coincidentally, is one of my favorite things about running.
As a mom and a full time teacher,
I don't even get to go to the bathroom
without someone banging on the door.
So my runs are my solitude, my ME time.
It was on one such training run that I decided to create a blog about the things I contemplate, my running reflections, and things I've learned along the way. I hope as you check out the different tabs above those of you reading will leave some comments and create some solidarity!
I run because it is the only time I get ME time also. That's why I have been running so much!

Moms definitely get that, Randi! Today I brought my kids with me to the trail and they rode their bikes while I ran. It worked out pretty well, but a few times I had to loop back to make sure they were with me (they're 10 &12). So although it's better than not going at all, it was definitely not the ME time I'm used to!
